Railcar Axle Box and Bearings Testing

Clark custom designs test rigs to adapt and accommodate for the testing requirements of railcar axleboxes and bearing assemblies. We cover a full range from low to high speed with a variety of load applications. The rigs are designed to apply the specified loads as required by standard EN 12082 at speed. Our data acquisition programs monitor real time history to report dynamic results.

Clark’s structures lab has the infrastructure and fixturing to simulate the environmental conditions of railcar bearings. The dyno lab at Clark conducts bearing testing with high load and torque at variable speeds (RPM).

All testing is conducted under the guidance of Clark’s ISO 17025-2017 quality assurance program ensuring the calibration, validity and quality of test data provided.

We also conduct Mag particle and dye penetrant analysis to assess crack propagation due to the effects of load testing the truck frame, bolster & bogey.

The structural lab at Clark Testing includes modular load frames and a 30’ X 90’ structures floor with mechanical tie-down clamps on a 48” centerline grid pattern for 1.5 million lb. static and dynamic load capacity.
