Testing that Reaches the World

Forklift & Telehandler Equipment Testing

Clark Testing’s mechanical lab in Buchanan, Michigan was formerly known as Clark Engineering Services and has a long history of testing forktrucks and qualifying material handling equipment for Clark Equipment Company. Clark’s testing services for forktrucks and telehandler equipment include: structural, load, fatigue, dynamometer, tilt/tip, ROPS/FOPS, torsional fatigue and functional or cyclical aging.

According to the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) standards, Forklifts, Telehandlers and Tow Motors have been categorized as Powered Industrial Trucks. Powered Industrial Trucks are required to comply with specific standards for variation of use including general industry, construction, marine terminals, and longshoring.

OSHA requires that all new powered industrial trucks must meet the design and construction requirements established in the "American National Standard for Powered Industrial Trucks, Part II, ANSI B56.1-1969", which is incorporated by reference as specified in OSHA §1910. The categories of the OSHA §1910 requirements address design, powering, storage, docking, handling of fuels and training.

Clark’s mechanical testing capabilities for forklifts and telehandlers enables our customers to qualify forktrucks and telehandlers to meet the stringent requirements of ANSI B56.1-1969 and OSHA §1910. Clark’s structures lab can induce a simulation load with the truck in motion or stationary, benchmark testing and also rough terrain truck testing with its large outdoor proving ground test area.

In addition to our mechanical testing services, Clark Testing also provides analytical services on lubricants, hydraulic fluids and grease. Our analytical laboratory is ISO 17025 accredited and is the lead laboratory that directs the ASTM D02 PTP program. Lubrication analysis at Clark is conducted in accordance with ASTM and ISO specifications for quality assurance, compatibility analysis, production validation and certification of specifications. We also offer tribology, or Condition Monitoring Services (CMS), to analyze for wear debris that can cause forced outages. Clark’s condition monitoring services support preventative maintaince initiavites to asses the health of indsutrail equipment. Trust Clark’s analytical laboratory services to provide the critical data for new or in-service oil, lubricants and grease to ensure reliability and continous operations.
