Testing that Reaches the World

Dynamometer Testing

Clark Testing provides dynamometer testing for powertrains, drivetrains, transmissions, transfer cases, axles, brakes, bearings, clutches, drive shafts and gearboxes. We also provide dyno testing on electric motors with driving and overhauling loads up to 1300 horsepower. Our bus bar system at Clark can supply up to 600 amps at 480 volts to power your motor drive, with 2300 volt supply options as well

The experienced engineers and technicians at Clark’s dyno lab have over 100 years of combined experience testing rotating equipment. Our well-equipped 50,000 square foot facility is capable of testing vehicles, sub-assemblies, and individual components from automotive industry, including world-class competition race teams, to heavy off-highway equipment. Full vehicle testing options include cooling system performance, driveline studies, and durability testing.

The entire system is operated with a proprietary software control system from our control room located above the laboratory. A 60’ racking system is used to simulate the installation of the components on the transit or mobile vehicle, as they will be mounted in the vehicle. The propulsion lab is modular and flexible allowing us to conduct direct drive motor testing for electric vehicles.

Clark’s dynamometer test lab is an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory with ITAR Certification for DOD test programs. Clark can custom design test programs to meet the environmental conditions. This includes hot & cold temperature along with harsh environments such as salt & mud/slurry.

Gearbox Lubrication Analysis

Clark Testing also has the capabilities to conduct lubrication analysis on transmission and gearbox fluids. Our lubrication lab can provide information on physical properties and chemical analysis lubricants, hydraulic fluids and grease. Clark’s lab features the specialized FZG testing for analysis of anti-wear characteristics and load carrying capabilities of lubricants.

FZG Gear testing simulates misaligned gear set operating in the selected lubricant bath and subjected to 12-14 stages of torque load. The fluid performance is determined by inspection for scuffing or scoring of the gear teeth between each load stage which indicates excessive wear and therefore a breakdown in fluid performance.

Vehicle & Component Dynamometer Testing

Environmental conditions for Off-road testing can be simulated with high/low temperature, accelerated corrosion/salt and sand/road-dust. Custom control and data acquisition of torque, speed, vibration and temperature.
